The birth of a baby brings a lot of joy and excitement to you and your family and friends. This excitement could trigger the urge to start the celebration of the arrival of the baby right in the hospital. However, before you know it, it’s time to go home!
While every mother and baby has a different labor and birth experience, you can expect to go home 24hrs after giving birth (if your baby was born vaginally) or after 48hrs (if you have had a C-section) and you and your baby are well. In the case of C-section, you may be visited by our midwifery homecare team to ensure you and your newborn(s) are doing well.
When you and your baby are fit for discharge, you will be given additional information about how to register your baby’s birth and how you can attend postnatal classes.
